Who of you remember that glorious day when Charlie George slammed the ball into the net from all those yards out. So that we could win the Double. What a truly great day I was 11 sitting in the bench seats at wembley with me dad and my uncle a truly great memory .
I was 19 then. Came out of the ground minus my voice, due to all the shouting and singing. I had a great big bloodblister in the palm of my hand, just from clapping! Talk about mass hysteria!
AND that was after being at White Hart Lane a few days earlier.
I was there. I got my ticket from my club (Halstead United, Sevenoaks League champs 2007-2008) and went with another guy from the club who wanted to be at the L'pool end. He swapped his ticket with someone who had a ticket from Jimmy Melia (remember him) at Aldershot Town. Needless to say I went in with the Gooners. I wore my blue-and-yellow Ben Sherman as it was an away game. When I got home, Mum and my sister had baked a cake and iced it white with a red cannon and 'double winners 1971', sweet.
Outsang the scousers and their silly song that day, some feat considering 5 days earlier we were at WHL. It was a dream. 10 years it only took us 10 years.

One of the very best weeks of my life![/quote]
You and I are the same age Olgit! I can only right "ditto" to your post.
I was there. And at WHL. And I lived in Leeds at the time. Driving back to Leeds after the WHL game was even better than Wemberlee.......Especially after I'd been at Leeds when we lost a few days before....
Rememberdownsborough. I do you remember him he was the goalie that stopped us winning the League Cup against Swindon. My First Wemberlee final.A mud bath and so poor back passing and Don Rogers, Ian Ure. and That Bobby Gould goal.
