TW and Sierra you are both extremely bright people. Can you not understand that Adebayor has held Arsenal to ransom.
But thats not why you don't like him. And you have admitted that on here. It was before all the contract stuff that you were slating him. |

It looks to me as Ade has been unfortunately been led up the garden path..and lets face it he is still young and may I add immature.....
Supposed statements on tv and via the press have added more fuel to the fire... My initial reaction is you are a greedy so and so, he already had a wage rise...to reflect his true worth in the side...Now if thats not good enough than he will just have to move on... On the other hand I feel that his agent..AS with most agents want the best for their client whilst earning a few million squids for themselves... My conclusion A BRIDGE TOO FAR in wanting excessive wages...but most of all...Victim of yet another SPIV AGENT.....and dreadful PR....... |

Sorry, my point was that I find it weird that people suggest he is a bad player when his record suggests otherwise, all the "Adecan'tscore" stuff. I can understand people being irritated by the contract issues, even if I think that its mostly paper talk.

Yes, they are giving bad advise to players to further their own agenda. The players are naive and young, its sad. |

TW he is just not my type of player at times he looks clumsy on the ball and missed vital chances after the Birmingham game. He had the best service in the premier league and plays for one of the best attacking sides in the world.
He needed to do it all again this coming season before asking for 120,000 a week. If that is not true then he should sue the people that printed it. I hated the quote comparing himself to Henry. If that is also a lie then why has nothing been done by himself and the club ? It doesn't make sense. |
TW and Sierra you are both extremely bright people. Can you not understand that Adebayor has held Arsenal to ransom. Only reason they may be a slight question mark over the facts is Arsenals professional attitude to never discuss problems in public.
Yes Adebayor is an Arsenal player yes he scored 30 goals last season but im afraid thats not enough not to anger alot of fans who are choosing Arsenal FC ahead of a single player. If Adeboyor is innocent of all the quotes etc then whats the last 4 weeks been about ? Just the press lying to unsettle the team ? In this case I dont think so.
Thanks for the compliment. No, I'm afraid that I don't agree that 'Arsenal is being held to ransom' and that the 'only reason there is a slight question mark over the facts' is due to Arsenal not discussing problems in public. I don't think that YOU or anyone else knows exactly what has been said between Ade and Arsene. Yet you and others, particularly those of you who have Ade-bashed for the past season, are very quick to believe that he must be asking for £120K a week - after all, didn't the Sun and other 'reliable' sources say so? You're quick to argue that he shouldn't have an enhanced contract, yet I'm betting if Cesc would have asked for an enhanced contract, that would be understandable. No one is asking to choose Arsenal over a single player - and trying to argue that is simply a ludicrously emotive statement. The question that needs to be asked (and without any of the bias that is so evident in some) is whether or not Ade contributed to our position last season, followed by the question of where we would have fallen if he had not been one of the leading goal scorers in the league. And, you might just want to top that questioning off with 'would we be better with Ade or without him' - and when you're answering that question you might want to consider that we are not likely to get another prolific premiership-bedded striker to replace him, but rather either make due with what we have or take another one on that has to be transitioned in. Is one player important to Arsenal? Yes, I would say so, even though we may disagree with who is or isn't important. Is one player irreplaceable? No, but then neither is anything to do with the Club in terms of persons. The press create stories to sell papers, take comments out of context, or simply sensationalize something trivial? Pshaw. Of course, they wouldn't do that! |

Because it shows a proclivity for disliking the player already and being predisposed, therefore, to believe the worst that you hear rather than being sceptical over the sources or even giving the player the benefit of support until proven. I detest witchhunts and all that goes with it. All the Adeboring, Adegreedy, and other nonsense is, in my view, childish and certainly not supportive. Hopefully he'll be like Song and have a strong backbone and desire to show two-fingers to the supporters by being the professional and scoring goals next season - or I suppose he could be demoralized by all that 'delightfully funny' chants and freeze up on the pitch. |

It doesn't make sense.
You just said a few posts above that the club doesn't make issues public - you can't have it both ways. I'd point out though that the club is not quick to issue statements denying since that simply makes for more paper talk and speculation. |

Sierra TW and the rest we can agree to disagree on the Adebayor subject. You make good points Sierra and I have noted them. I will try and think positive thoughts about him and stop writing negative posts as he is an Arsenal player.
Yes I do believe that he held himself to ransom but I also wasn't his biggest fan so the guy deserves another chance but he better not let Arsenal down or if this situation arises again it will be impossible to give the player the benefit of the doubt. |

Elite Forum Member Posted 22 July 2008 01:16 PM Hide Post wat about the offsides?
Not to mention the misses, as for 30 goals 10 of them were scored against relegated Derby & Reading Personally never really rated him & he did have barren periods which cost us last season. Don't boo Arsenal players but am getting increasing fed up with greedy prima donna footballers who demand much more than their performances deserve I won't certainly be cheering him on if he plays next season |
