I don`t know how true it is but I remember reading an article sometime ago which said that Bush promised Blair that British Companies would get plenty of contracts arising out of the reconstruction of Iraq.Whe it came to the crunch however the Americans got the lions share and we got very little. Not that Blair minded though he`s now a very wealthy man thanks to his ....licking Bush.

All I know is that theis country has a huge national debt, almost 3 million unemployed, and they are still wasting billions of pounds on a war that is nothing to do with us. I have total respect for the army who are doing their job, but in the national interests they need to get out of there now and prioritise sorting issues here.

don't think it's just 'Yank' ownership. But it was never really gonna end well...in my opinion.

So he is 1.1% shares away from having to make a bid for all the shares

Even if he makes a bid will Usmanov and Nina accept if not he can`t make it unconditional.

I'm interested in how the shares add up when we take alliances on the Board into account. Can we tell if this is an inter-board sale (Carr to Kronke for example)?

To be pedantic and because I`m bored, 29.9% will trigger an offer so it`s only 1%. How many shares is that? Who is drip feeding him? I thought he had no cash.

I`d like to find that out personally! I suppose the fear is he`s financing this with debt a la Glazers that he will land the club with.

Unless the rules changed since I retired and I admit that is some time ago you could hold 29.9% without triggering a bid, however,as I say things might have changed since then.

I suppose over 29.9% (even 29.90001%) is enough? I`m just going on what they`re saying on the radio.

I`ve heard that to snappy but it was part of my old job dealing with Take-Overs and it was 30% which triggered a take-over,however,I stand to be corrected.I think the most important thing is what Usmanov and Lady Nina intend to do if they sell out to Stan then the games over and we are just another Football Club owned by a foreigner,if they hold on to their shares then the status quo is maintained.
