That means nothing to me
maybe not to you but him giving stevie the no10 shirt means he feels hes the best england player and for some reason i think he knows slightly more than you do also gerrard has very rarely played in his best position due to him being so great he can play almost anywhere |

Not based on his tenure as England manager so far. Pull your head out his arse, he struggles against top opposition and he struggles for England. He's been tried in his favoured position and he hasn't done enough. He is probably Englands best player based on club form excluding defenders, but for England he isn't close. |

The only time he has been was when he played in the hole but behind rooney who will not play on the shoulder so that takes away his effectiveness there because rooney comes deep so when he has been in his best position (which has been very rarely) he hasnt had the right striker ahead of him |

Wasnt there quotes from his biography where he came in and saw the number 9 shirt hanging on his peg and he was gutted to be playing so far foward (ie in the hole) and Owen wore ten and player up front? Think this was under Sven though maybe i've made it all up Was Owen not the right sort of striker to play ahead of him? |

Didnt make it up--- taken from an article about Gerrard And he says he was stunned when he walked into the dressing room for the warm-up game against Hungary and saw the number nine shirt on his peg. He said: "Talk about pressure. "That's a recipe for me being destroyed. Get real. I'm a midfield player not an emergency striker." |

Was Owen not the right sort of striker to play ahead of him?
you are correct, and owen the right player? sometimes he is yes. tbh a drogba would have been perfect for england. maybe crouch but his lack of pace makes it difficult england just dont have good enough strikers really. unfortunate but thats football |

So Stevie Me can only play good for England if he gets to play in his favourite postion - an attacking free role - and only if England had better strikers? So he never played well for Liverpool when Kuyt or Vorin played up front? I remeber Gerrard having a decent game and got some goals - away to Andorra wasnt it? |

To get the best out of him he should be in a free role with a goods striker ahead of him yes, rooney is quality but isnt the right type of player if you play in the hole you need the guy ahead of you to stretch the back 4 to create space for you to work. |
