Just when he was getting back on form. Stress fracture of the lower back. Will be out for some considerable time. Every cloud has a silver lining. For Gibbs it's another chance to step up to the matk.

Cmon Gibbs show cashley what a real gooner is like. I know it wont happen but would be so funny if he took his starting England spot. Maybe in a couple of years?

Oh god, isn't this what Denilson had and he's out for 12 weeks? And didn't Clichy have something similar at the end of last season? I have faith in Gibbs but his lack of experience isn't ideal. Still though, he will have a chance to show Capello what he can do and good luck to him.

bad news - just what we don't need going into december with lots of games.

a lot of faith in Gibbs though & hopefully return soon GC.

for those in Fantasy Football, ship in Gibbs for 4.5m!!!

I shouldn't have, but that just made me laugh out loud!

Bad news for Gael, but I think we have a decent enough stand-in in Gibbs.

We have PL, CL, FA Cup and CC. Who plays at left back for which competition? Gibbs cannot do all.

We have Traore as well so good strength in depth in the position.

As 5_Stories says we have Traore.

The next CC match isn't for about 4 weeks (which is how long Clichy is being reported as being out for, although I realise this is an Arsenal 4 weeks which means double it and add a bit more!) Clichy could even be back for that.

Aside from that I would expect that if we can guaruntee progression in the CL tomorrow night we would have been seeing a younger side for the remaining CL fixtures anyway.

Yup, I'm wearing my blindly optimistic hat today!
