United were pretty poor in the first 8/10 games of last season. It's about grinding out results until we can hit form just like they did... hopefully also save our best for later on in the season this time round.
If we'd have done as Wenger originally said at the end of last season and kept the team together, but also added a couple of players, then yes.
Exactly!
Wenger identified his goals and objectives for the coming season's squad but has failed to act on it. Why? is the question i'd like to know the answer too!
The boss tried as best as he could to keep Flamini - but he couldnt. His efforts obviously show how important he was - thus meaning he needed to replace him. Yet despite this and Diarra being sold in Jan he went and sold Gilberto.
I understand the ol line about letting him go to get a 3year deal we couldnt offer him; but i believe Gilberto being a solid pro that he was would have been more than happy to go down the DB10 route of 1year extensions as he said on many times he wanted to end his career at Arsenal. Admittedly Gilberto was 2nd choice to Flam, but with his sale that meant he was first choice. I was looking forward to a fresh and confident Gilberto leading us on the pitch!
Adding Silvestre wasn't the ideal and first choice transfer of most, but it at least added a bit of depth and experience however we've since gone and lost - Hoyte, Traore and Senderos making us weaker than before his capture.
If people think this board is doom and gloom, just wait til after September and we fail to add Barry or Alonso to the squad
It will not happen, our big problem is making 4th place, luckily there isnt a decent team out there that can nick 4th place otherwise we would be in trouble, Cesc will then probably leave and Wenger and the board will get critisism when Wenger says he was denied the money to fund top players..
David Dein and kroneke will then start a new cold war with the Ruskie and David will be back at Arsenal when he wanted to be, will spend a couple of years on getting new players who only want to come for the money, we will be further in debt but closer to united and chelsea, Dein will then try in instigate the euro super league and get arsenal in, then the ticket prizes will become too expensive for almost all ordinary fans and then we will end up watching on TV untill TV pulls the plug and we can kiss goodbye to top flight football and the banks and yanks will want there money back.
amazing how a defeat to Fulham can make you depressed
yes - the one thing that is clearly obvious from the opening games of the season is that no team is looking likely to break into the top 4.
Exactly, all those teams that were supposedly on our heels, Spurs(Lost 2), Pompey(Lost 2 albeit hard games), Villa(Lost to Stoke)....
If we'd kept last seasons squad together & added a top class CB & a couple of good players to create greater squad depth i'd be feeling very optimistic about winning the league. But as things stand I just can't see it.
