Anybody who thinks we can win the title this season is living in a fantasy world. This is not just because we are a little short of players this season, but more the case that Chelsea for example have strengthened again.
As far as we are concerned if performances do not improve substantially I fear we will be back to the same situation as a couple of years ago when we were fighting for fourth place. I hope to start seeing some improvements starting with tonight. I still believe in the team and think it has great potential.
However the performances to back this belief up MUST start coming soon.
Depressing as it is to say it, and I'll probably get flak for saying this, and I hope I'm proved wrong and I'll chomp my keyboard if I am, but I think we will be lucky to make top four as our squad stands at the moment.
Even last season after selling Thierry, I had a 'good feeling' as we started off in the premiership. I was hoping to gloat about how I knew better, etc. This season I only feel worry that we are about to be very embarrassed. (Remember Arsene's quote a few seasons ago about the balance of power shifting to Arsenal??? )
I really cannot understand how AW and the board have allowed a whole world class midfield to slip away and kept only Fabregas. (I can only think that we are financially up to our necks in debt)
It was only four years ago that we went unbeaten.
I have often been very LOUD in critising people who massively over react to a bad result but this is more about the fact that we just don't have the players required.
If we don't sign real quality before Monday midnight Cesc will be gone by this time next year.
