hi all i'm a gooner from sheffield and had tickets for me and my dad for the spurs game last night and had been looking forward to the match for ages. Unfortunately we ended up missing the game because we were stuck on the m1 from about 2.00pm till going on for 6.45pm and hadn't even made it to chesterfield so had no chance of making down to cockfosters to park up and get tube to match. i'm absolutely gutted bout missing a great match but also about spending over 100 quid on 2 tickets and dad also took a day off work for the match as well. i've emailed the club bout the possibility of a refund for the tickets or maybe having some replacement tickets for another match. does anyone think we'll get anything and has anyone had anything similar happen to them and tried for a refund or something aswell. thanks sheffieldgooner.
soz my friend i can't see Arsena refunding your tickets or giving you tickets to another game
It wasn't Arsenal FC fault you couldn't attend - i had the same experience when we beat Blackburn 5-2 at the grove - Great Western Trains buggered me up that day - i only got as far as Bristol Temple Meads
i left wokingham(near reading) at 4.40 yesterday to get to the game and at 7pm i was still in maidenhead(only 15 miles from home)......the m4 and m40 were no go zones which caused a complete gridlock over a massive area, literally every road was chock a block.....im still fuming that i didnt get to the game and had to turn around and go home and watch it on tv.
Not only would you have endured the traffic coming down the M1, had you made the match, you would have been stuck on the M1 going back again from J6 to J9 which was standstill.
Probably why I have been doubly miserable old git today!
its disgusting that arsenal wont give u a refund. not like they cant afford it. sorry u missed the game m8. couldnt u of tried a different route?? like in a tomtom u put in shortest route or avoid motorways?
Sadly it has happened before and no doubt with our wonderfull road system it will happen again. I think it was Liverpool last year that about 5000 Gooners were stuck on the M11 from 11.00 until 5.00 pm

Why is it disgusting? Arsenal isn't responsible for traffic or for when people leave to go to games (and not saying that either didn't leave early enough). If you pay to go to a concert and the traffic through the area that you have to travel keeps you from getting there, I don't think you'll find them giving you a refund.
Offering a little more tact then the others sheffield gooner,
It is very unlikely that Arsenal will refund your for events outside their control. They have provided you a service for an event, how you get their, is of no concern to them.
You may however be able to claim on any insurance cover you might have? Be it personal, or maybe the card used to pay for the tickets.
Contact the Highways Agency for a incident report, maybe Arsenal can confirm that the cards were not used to enter the stadium and then present this info to your insurer.
You never know what will happen but it could be worth exploring.
I'd just like anyone to explain why Arsenal is at fault and should be refunding tickets for something that is totally out of their control, much less disgusting that they wouldn't.

The problem lies with people associated their ticket purchases with that of i dont know, an item of clothing or a ticket of travel etc.
In the heat of the moment, people forget that when ordring over the phone, you are advised that they are non refundable, or receiving something in your email confirmation.
