i love phil's attitude big difference is that adams was an automatic first choice for years to come, phil isn''t .. he's a long way from it ... cesc is though

Gallas won't go, and he is still the best choice for captain at this moment. The most experienced, the least willing to lie down and give up.

already told us a couple of years ago he want to play for barca,so that rules him out for me.
phil has a good ten years at least ,and has never shown a desire to leave, even when he's benched.

It's not often he'll see a teammate nearly have their career ended, to be fair.

I think Gallas has done a great job as captain this season.

They have the ability to win things, and have been in the position to win things, so the thought that they might leave because they fail to win anything doesn't wash with me.
If they do leave because of this, then I don't want them here!
Yeah, go to Barcelona and have it handed to you on the plate.

i know that is a popular defence, and there may be some validity about it
but the other 10 players managed to put it out of their mind when the pen was given so for the captain not to was disappointing
one other point about that, isn't it the acid test for a captain how they respond in the worst of times as we encountered at birmingham ... its exactly that situation where we need a leader most ...

Gallas has done a great job as captain. In addition, the players like and respect him. In the unlikely event that he goes, Kolo should be captain. AW will choose Kolo.

I love Kolo BUT and this is probably a controversial view ... I'm not 100% convinced that he will be a guaranteed 1st teamer in years to come .. I think he has slipped below his own high standards this year and something hasn't looked right about him for a while .. if you remember back a year, after every game we were on here saying that he was MOTM, etc ... for whatever reason this hasn't been his greatest season ... maybe playing with gallas hasn't suited him (I think they are very similar) ...
I've also always thought that Kolo is under-used as a defender - I would always have preferred to see him in midfield, and I know some will say how could we split up flamini and cesc, and thats right, of course we can't right now, but who knows in the future what will happen

I also love Kolo but for me he hasn't performed since the CL Final. He is also not captain material. Cesc should be captain.
