Thats a good shout b'jesus and it wouldnt suprise me. The TH14 situation all over again and if we dont win anything others will follow suit and that is my biggest worry
putting gallas captian was a great move, it kept him here and gave him the authority he craved in a young side! if he left id look at toure as captain or even flams!!! not cesc, hes too young and theres already enough on his shoulders
1. He is too quiet, laid back, especially in the first half of games 2. He speaks to the media about his team-mates 3. I thought he let us down badly in Birmingham (I know I'm in a minority, but his first responsibility was to support his teammates and defend the rebound from the penalty - if there had been one) 4. I jsut don't like him as an individual, most of all as I don't think he is a team player in terms of his attitude
As a player and as an athlete, he's fantastic, I've never felt comfortable with his personality - I should add that generally speaking there's a few arrogant people (imo) at the club at present, more than I can ever remember in the past - Ade, Nic, Eboue, Jens ... and there are elements of Cesc's personality that border on over-confidence. Don't get me wrong, I love Ade, Cesc and Jens, and I quite like Nic, but this is a squad that needs careful handling and in my opinion Gallas is the wrong man for the job.
not to mention the fact he isnt a natural leader.
I'd say he is a natural leader. Gerrard was captain for liverpool when he was really young with good success (I'm sure 11rvp11 will be able to verify), same with Tony Adams.
Knowing my luck we will win the double and he'll stay! I guess i'll just have put up with him doing his bionic man impression in the defence again next season

couldnt disagree more.....he talks to all of the players as a group and individually, and they are all listening. imo they have a massive respect for him as a player and as a man.
i think we would be in a far lesser position than second if he wasnt our captain.
He came to us after we struggled to perform in the league and just made fourth spot in the Cl. Also we lost the Cl final that year and things looked decidedly gloomy. He didnt jump ship last season with henry went and stayed put to take on the captaincy and captain the team (possibly this is what persuaded him to stay). IMO he has done a great job. Whatever anyone thinks we are still on the same points as the premier leaders and in the QF of the CL.Few would have expected that at the start of the season. If he goes he has nothing to be ashamed off....he has always given 100% for us.
You are right in what you say but, placing a young players in those shoes is not the option either.
I agree its debatable re Cesc .. but he would be my choice, as I think he has the attribute of being able to lead by example, also is popular, the team revolves around him anyway, and he makes a lot of right choices, I don't think we have a better footballing brain at the club .. he's definitely a motivator too, and winds the crowd up at times ... and he wears his heart on his sleeve and appears to genuinely love the club ...

dont disagree with any of that, just phil reminds me so much of tony adams (at a slightly younger age)i think he's destined for the job.
the captaincy of adams was debatable at the time(as this would be)but would you turn the clock back and do something different,i wouldnt.
senderos would take this job very seriously, and i have no doubt he would make a top draw captain.
