The bottom line is What do you want?

We would buy players if players are avialable.

Jenas is useless for most of the season and in a team of Reyes, RVP, Flamini, Hleb etc etc etc I'd rather have the later than the former.

I don't rate Jenas.

Arsenal are a world class side that has world class players. So the answer to all that you state as misleading is - no-one is available who can live up to the Arsenal pressure.

Vieira was losing out. He is getting old and I haven't seen a good game from him since our unbeaten season and before that the double.

Edu wasn't up to competing with an improving central midfield in Fabregas, Flamini and Gilberto and many more waiting in Larsson and Hleb to play centrally. Freddie can do a better job than Edu in the middle.

Pires is getting older - we have Clichy and Reyes both world class waiting.

I don't understand what you want but misled you have been not. If you want a team that buys big name players on a regular basis - try Real Madrid.

Talking of Real Madrid despite all there big shots they havent won LA liga for a couple of years its not always big shots that do it for you if you still want a club to be proud of support Arsenal.Madrid are like a circus act full of entertainers being followed and reported on by sycophantic papers and reporters yet you dont here much about the dealings over selling there training ground i thought that toothless tiger UEFA were going to investigate them it goes to show who runs European football and its not UEFA more like the G18 .

I think too many people get sucked in by the media (that includes Sky Sports and the Tabloids and everything else) who are just trying to fill up airtime and column inches and it's usually with utter crap.

At the end of it all, all that matters is 90 minutes 11 men and who cares what their names are other than they wear an Arsenal shirt.

Rhino Power you make a very good point, how else would Yeovil give Man Utd such a good match or FC Thun surprise the world by thrashing Ajax (wishful thinking!!)

However, my annoyance comes when YES we could have signed Robinho or Baptista or Viera but we didn't. Why we didn't doesn't really matter, but why did we not have backups available? I can't believe that Man Utd can sign Van Der Sar from under everyones noses or Liverpool can pick up Reina or Sissoko, or Newcastle signing Parker.

I read a fantastic post stating how well Spurs had done with signing young Englishmen without challenge, I.E. Robinson, Carrick, Jenas, Defoe, etc... now I'm not saying we should be signing these players and I trust Wenger if we wants to sign a 17yr old Frenchman rather than an overpriced Englishman but he can't use the excuse, Englishman are too expensive!

And Rhino Power I have one last message, although I did agree with you on one post, another of yours made me laugh. I suggest you read Wingates cynical description of our team. Pires is past it? 20 goals a season! Yeah! And you can't tell me that had Vieira left last year that Edu wouldn't still be playing for us.

As I said when I started this post, I'm not doubting our ability but I do think that we need some answers from monsieur Wenger!

I don't think Edu had the quality on a match on match basis to perform. Edu had ability but only in certain areas, elsewhere he was just an extra man who couldn't do much. He couldn't defend very well. He was good but not great.

I find Fabregas and Flamini have quality in many different areas. Flamini's interception is brilliant for a central midfielder and important. Flamini can and does get the ball in a tackle and these and other qualities show me a player who will be extremely important once he has matured with Arsenal.

Fabregas needs not explanation.

Again I don't see any answers from Wenger. Who should we buy? Who is there to buy? Baptista could have been good but I think the board made a fatal error in making a public display for a player who had no intention of coming to Arsenal.

We should be attracting players (as we did in the past) who have a gross intention to arrive at Highbury but the bottom line is, there are no players that Arsenal need.

At present we have quality in all areas and if our first 3 matches and the Amsterdam trip doesn't prove that I think people want big names at Highbury but big names have done nothing for us in the past because Highbury has always been about development and will always be about development. That's how we got to the stage we are at now - not by buying big name players. We made Henry, Pires, Vieira, Freddie, Cole and all the other big name players in the squad.

We have great players. Yes, they are not on the lips of Adidas and Nike adverts, but they are great players.
