FACT: Wenger said he would build on our current squad with 1 or 2 WORLD CLASS players.

TRUTH: We signed Hleb but sold Edu and Vieira. So technically we're minus 1 world class player!!!

FACT: Peter Hill Wood promised a transfer kitty of £30m

TRUTH: It seems that there is actually no money available, why else would they go for the cheapest possible option for a new gk, a 3 month loan deal???

FACT: Wenger promised we would not sell Vieira, Henry or Pires.

TRUTH: Vieira was sold within the month and Pires looks set to leave come January?

FACT: Wenger stated he would be interested in Jenas for the right price but not £15m.

TRUTH: Jenas was sold to Spurs for £8m, surely Arsenal money???

I get the sickening feeling that we've been horrendously mislead this close season. I do not believe this is the end for Arsenal and I think we'll probably still finish 2nd, but with all these facts staring us in the face, NOBODY can claim we're stronger than we were last season.

Even our youngsters aren't necessarily going to blossom this season, okay Fabregas, Flamini and Senderos will certainly get their chance but consider this... Hoyte, Stack, Larsson, Bentley, and Allidiere are all out on loan. It really does bother me that we have a first 11 and very little else...

Keep your chins up Arsenal fans, but stop being so disillusioned that we're anything other than weaker this August. Come on Arsene we deserve some answers, you said trust me, now explain yourself!

We had this topic yesterday and I dont think we were misled AW tried to buy a second "world class player" in Baptista for `£17m but he wanted to stay in Spain for passport reasons,so he tried and the money was there.As for Jenus 7m must not be the right price for AW and I agree with him there. I agree. I did not want Jenas to come to Arsenal, and now Spurs have once again paid over the odds for an over-rated player.

Each of these points can be explained but as a whole they add up to the same thing, we've been misled!!!

I think you're being slightly paranoid.

Arsene did say he would buy two world class players. But, it isn't really the AW way to go and buy someone who is already world class. He prefers to bring in someone and make them world class.
That also explains the apparent £30 million not being used. Arsene would spend if he felt it necessary, which he obviously did not.
Regarding Vieira, you simply can't keep a player who doesn't want to be there.
Regarding Jenas. £8 million is a good bit of business for Newcastle, not Spurs. They were ripped off.

I fear what you are saying may contain elements of truth, but ultimately, I think you are being a bit negative.

I appreciate the fact that many people might think that i'm being paranoid, or negative. I also appreciate the fact I haven't been shouted down for expressing my opinion.

I think the transfer window has been a disaster for us, and I will close this post by simply requesting Arsene to explain what has happened over the last few months. Is it a simple case of being misquoted or has he himself been misled???

To end on a positive note, I'm sure we will finish 2nd above Man utd, FA Cup is still a very real possibility and Champs League I genuinely believe we just need to find a niche style of play. Good luck lads...

Jenas is not a top player. Hes vastly over-rated in my opinion and the Spuds have overpaid for him. Hes also injury prone so therefore I was delighted he went to the Scum as he is not as good as everyone thinks.

At the end of the day Wenger said, "Trust Me". So if the season ends in total failure, we have every to give an opinion & vent disappointment. I know Wenger has done a good job for us, but don't begin to think that he's unaccountable or can't be criticised, because believe me HE CAN!

And yes, this is one Arsenal who feels like they've been lied to.

I just think the targets we were after haven't come off. So nothing to worry about, just haven't had the luck this time round.

If things had gone our way, we would be sitting here now with Baptista and Viera signed up, which would have given our squad a much stronger look about it.

I am of the opinion that we need a goalie, and a midfielder. Wenger went after those 2 players, and they didn't come off for whatever reason. He has got a stop gap in Poom, so expect some activity in January.

Granted, Wenger went for Baptista & Viera, he managed to get Hleb. So perhaps I'm looking too deeply into things. I think the board are to blame as well though, Baptista could have been signed & sealed if it wasn't for the board putting in derisory offers early on.
