No criminal prosecution?
OB were in pretty quickly so i'd hope they were arrested and prosecuted but maybe not? It really was incredibly pathetic, a large bunch of Burnley morons waiting for literally any Arsenal fans in colours they could find to attack, the fact that we didn't have colours on probably meant we missed out on it...

Some of our fans at that game who were mouthing off and pointing at Burnley fans after the game then jumped straight on the Travel Club coaches to safety didn't help matters.

TW, Burnley wouldn't have banned until after the criminal prosecution was completed, i.e., they were charged, tried and found guilty.

Here you go in bits from 'This is Lancashire':

- "Police have welcomed a four-year football banning order for 20-year-old Joshua... and a similar three-year restriction for his dad, Steven, 46..."

- "Detectives say they were part of an 'emerging' band of troublemakers which the authorities are determined to call time on."

- "...convicted after a trial of using words or behaviour likely to cause fear of unlawful violence..."

- "Joshua ....also received 90 days in jail, suspended for 12 months, with 150 hours unpaid work. Steven ...received 50 hours unpaid work."

- Both had to pay £350 costs.

- One Arsenal supporter said 10-15 men charged towards them and he was punched before others in the Arsenal group were hit.

Chief Inspector Jeff Brown said "This had been an emerging group at Burnley and we will continue to target them with banning orders."

Interesting that so far we've only heard of action against two of the 10-15 men.

Yes Gnu. The wheels of justice in the UK are that swift.

They banned 57 at Burnley last year. Even found that one of their councillors for Lanehead ward in Burnley had been banned in 2003 for the same offense. Another member of Burnley's 'Suicide Squad' was convicted in 2003 for killing a 17-year-old Nottingham Forest fan. Nice folk. Roll Eyes

They have a dubious record for voting in councillors in Burnley...

Yeah, read that too, TW. We're probably thinking about the party that seems to cause or be involved in a lot of the troubles around Burnley.

Sierra, not necessarily so. The 37 Arsenal fans handed banning orders after Copenhagen were not charged, tried or convicted in either Denmark or the UK, yet some still received 4 year banning orders from the club.

They were part of a witchunt by Piers Morgan when he was editor of The Mirror and has since apologised for his actions. A couple of those 'caught' subsequently lost their jobs and were eventually awarded a very substantial amount by way of compensation.
