can't say I'm too keen on the idea of the arsenal anthem having a line about drinking in it... Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a few drinks at the weekend myself. But this is the club of Tony Adams and Paul Merson, until Wenger dried the place out....
Thanks Den I was waiting for someone to do that. Just change the Southampton bit to " Portsmouth can keep ringing their bell " and were up to date and ready to go
I've been hearing a new line, southampton have gone from the dell, replacing the old bit.
the general atmosphere at games need to be improved....its like everyone is going to see a play at AG. We need a more carnival style atmosphere at games...
Allow flags and banners into games....have face painting facilities around the grounds for kids and adults alike.....a drummer or something...
just a few ideas...cause AG is a very sterile environment
An anthem (The impossible dream) and flags (large ones!!) would definitely help with the atmosphere... the grove potentially could be a very initimidating cauldron of noise if the effort was really put into it by the fans and club

Those ***anese drummers (cant remember their names) who have the massive bass like drums - before the match starts and at half time as the players come back out... could be rousing stuff...
I agree we should have big ol' flags and drummers. To be honest it would probably help if all people actually sang aswell because very often you'll have half the stand singing away and the other half looking like you've just been let out on day relase from the funny farm!!!
Sing people damn it- thats all i ask!!! hehe
I know sometimes it's hard because it's a bigger stadium and theres more people to get in sync with the singing and stuff but it can be done. This stadium deffo needs some livening up!!!

In all seriousness Hobart, I don't see how that is going to change a thing. The people who moan the most about the tannoy are the very people that tend to be out in the concourse until the very last minute (or even after the kick-off) finishing off the beers that they moan about too. I know that the people in our block that stand up and berate others for not singing and launch into SUIYHT every few minutes are the very same guys that come in late and leave early for the beer crush.
Maybe a better solution is to stop serving ten minutes before kick-off and to not serve until the whistle again -- but then that really screws up the profit-producers and won't work.
In all honesty, I think that Edelman actually does have this one right -- the song will be played over and over until people gradually accept it and sing it. It won't be any different than everyone who said that the shout-it-back would never work and guess what? It does and the stadium does rock with it.
Some will hate the song, but hey, the Club isn't going to please everyone. And, played enough, done enough, repeated enough and some things become easier.
In your opinion, it is not true. In mine, it is. And, I'd suggest that people look around them and see who is swearing at people for not singing, etc. and they can determine whether it is the same folk that comes in late, scampers out early and comes back in late. Maybe your block is far different from mine -- but those who scream at people to stay home and let 'real' fans come sing are the same early/late comers.
I accept that in your opinion, you feel differently.
Agreed Jlas, As recorded on the catering threads, I don't stay on the concourse because there is no point. I go to my seat about 20 mins before kick off and cant stand the tannoy system content or for that matter the shout back and definately not Elvis Presley.

what has that got to do with the tannoy? The bit I disagreed with is when you said its the late comers that moan about the tannoy, that isn't true. If you're on the concourse drinking away with fellow gooners, then you don't care about the tannoy, its the people in their seats that have to put up with the annoying tannoy, when they would rather have a sing along and generate their own atmosphere
