This is becoming a bit of a worry now. I think Wenger's mentality and approach to not spending is rubbing off on the board now, they love Arsene for one reason and one reason only, money! And keeping and raking in as much as possible.

This Stadium cost is just aload of old tosh to deflect the real truth, were minted and always have been in my book! Look at the revenue we are pulling in! The Stadium cost 360m, and since then we've made pre-tax profits and became the richest club in the world before Real Madrid & Man Utd announced there annual gains for the 2006/07 season to the stock market, so what is this all about? Money, or silverware?

I feel the board are content with giving Wenger freedom, and maintaining that there is money to spend etc, etc, but behind it all, this is just a spin to divert the real issue, PROFIT MARGIN!

The board have told Wenger, it is not entirely necessary to be sucsessful on the pitch, and silverware is not the be all and end all, because as long as the club runs as it is now, making large profits, then why worry, who cares about the fans who make this club as it is, and demand sucsess. As long as pockets are being lined, what's to worry about, the only ambition of this club is to reach the group stages of the champions league, and that is it!

What good are profits if other clubs are gifted money by billionaires.

Chelsea have never made a penny of profit under Abramovich but have spent nearly a billion pounds.

How could anyone compete with that?

Agree totally TW but do we want our club run that way? Chav$ki are a heartbeat or change of circumstances away from disaster. There needs to be a middle way.

Because by sensationalizing Chelsea, Rocastle, attention is diverted from the real problem of needing to complete with the other 17 or 18 teams in the Premiership.

Agreed Sierra but it has become a very dull cop out now.

I agree, Rocastle. The next argument will be that it doesn't matter where we are in the table since we'll have our heads high and not have bought the title.

Ironic then that people including you go on about "not winning trophies", surely we must compete with and surpass Chelsea to do so?

ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO COMPETE WITH ABRAMOVICH MONEY SO WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR POINT IN USING CHELSEA AS AN EXAMPLE ALL THE TIME !!!!!!!!!!

United managed to win last season but they couldnt compete with Chelsea fiancially.
We are talking finance here and getting a cash investment would free us up to compete with everyone financially except Chelsea.
It would all depend on what players were purchased and if they decided to join us instead od Chelsea which is the same problem United and Liverpool have to a certain extent.
Use you brain and realise that no one can compete with Chelsea not even Real Madrid.
Financial football talk has to based around every other club than them because they are a one off.
