agreed on the money grabbing brief, but he's a big boy now and should be able to make the correct decision all by himself

Thats true but Ash is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and i think these smart operators know they can run rings around someone like Ash and influence them

yeah haha, if he was a bulb he'd be a 10watt. i dont have any negative feelings towards him but also the positives are fading. if he's that commited "ooh i'd love to be captain" then act like like it. c'mon ash think of your future and where this appeal is gonna lead

Now I love ashley cole as a player and hope he stays forever and a day,and hope he becomes captain in the future, but all this appealling leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I cant see a good reason to appeal ok he might get the fine reduced but surely money is not the problem,he may think if he gets exonerated it will all go away, but it wont because he met Chelsea. The least said the soonest mended give it up now and look to the future

Really think that he should just drop it....the fans are clearly happy with him despite his "actions" and he is not helping his own case!

I agree with you all. Ash thinks it's about an individuals right to 'work' wherever he so chooses. He says it's not about the fine. He compares the job of a pro. footballer with the likes of me & thee, who can get a job, give notice & go and work elsewhere. He thinks he should be able to do the same. I have 2 points with that:
1. He knows the rules, if you don't like them, get a job with Girl's Aloud!!
2. Can you imagine a premiership where his way is operated. Come January, Liverpool are top and everybody jumps ship to play with them, then in March they slip to 3rd, Arsenal are top & all of them want to play for us for the last month! What about the teams at the bottom, come January everybody would want to leave & they woouldn't have a team! Just think about the manager, he wouldn't be able to plan anything, wouldn't know who he'd have playing for him, one month from the next. Just wouldn't work!!
Is this not how I read the situ? We would all like to do whatever we want, but life's not that simple, unless you're a spoilt, rich little sod!!

Ash is alright and gives some decent commitment to the game in many games. When he goes absent, he's usually being man marked by two or three players in a game.

I can't see him leaving especially with the new stadium enticing players.

Since they are all under contract, perhaps we should go to a month-to-month contract. That way when they are injured, we can simply not renew their contract that month and *maybe* take them back once they have managed (on their own with their own physio, no pay, etc.) to get healthy.

The problem is that some footballers want it all their own way -- they want their contracts to protect them without giving any protection to the Club. Unfortunately (for the players), contracts are meant to be reciprocally beneficial otherwise no one would sign them.

Ashley is being very badly advised. While he may get this through the European Courts (I don't have a high opinion for their logical decisions), it will seriously damage football. Is this what he, someone who supposedly 'loves' football, really wants?

It's all about saving face at this point, I'm afraid. When the mature, responsible response would be to say 'I made a mistake; I'm sorry and will honour my contractual terms and the terms under which I agree to play while in the FA.'

But then that takes integrity and honour -- something that is difficult to find nowadays.

He should have just paid the money and left it. It is all about saving face so he isn't associated with contract negotiations in the history of his career. Who cares. Everyone talks to clubs at the top without us knowing it.

He should run home and chill out to a nice meal prepared by Cheryl Tweedy and that will take 10 minutes if the local Indian are good for their word.

ashley is the best left back in the world & as a player deserves that accolade & respect!his behaviour with the tapping up /chelski affair deserves no respect at all though!!!so he should concentrate on winning back some respect from the fans that pay his wages & just accept he was wrong.

Nice game from Ash today i thought...one of the best performances on the pitch, especially considering every ball virtually was played behind him from where his run started?!
