[quote]The ladies are good doesn't get enough tv coverage, it's going to hard next season with the new Americna league we won't be left with many players. Can't blame them for going though.quote]

The American League is behaving very badly so far. A couple of teams have already got our girls on their websites as their players, when no offers or agreement have been reached. Disgraceful! Unfortunately we will lose the ladies and our team will suffer. Frowner

I think there won't be more than 3 players who will go there.
The WPS has done a draft but ti does not that Arsenal will agree to release the players or that the players will agree to come.
At the moment 4 players have been drafted Carney, Smith, Byrne and Scott and more should come later but besides Carney surely and maybe Smith and Scott but that should be it.

The bigger threat in the Superleague because if they centralised contracts they will simply dismantle the side and could create 8 franchises from nothing like London Broncos, Merseyside fusion, Geordie and Mackem North East etc...

There's a meeting on Saturday to discuss this. I support Arsenal Ladies. I'll have no interest in their manufactured teams.

It's a bit of a secret there to be honest, they have been trying to implement it for more than a year below radar.
On the footie side , the girls are in good shape with Vic puting two irish girls in defence yesterday and it produced the best defensive display of the season.
Now the girls are off to France for UEFA Cup group game and I shall follow them on Thursday Big Grin

Congratulations to our girls on their 6-0 victory over Neulenbach. They are now through to the quarter finals of the Uefa Cup.

I was at thursday's game and will be there for the big one versus OL on Tuesday.
The girls ned to win to top the group in order to avoid the Winner of UMEA - Bardolino as UMEA are the top side in Europe at the moment with Frankfurt being on the brink of elimination.

I agree that it is preferable to avoid them but we did beat them last year Big Grin

That's true but a couple of those who were in that winning team are now gone or on the bench and repalced by not always better players.

The girls took a good spanking yesterday, loads of players were not up to scratch or average and they got punished for it

The premier league games are not hard enough for the girls and are not a serious preparation for big european games.
I also noted that refereeing is very strict in Europe and stuff you can get away with in England is not tolerated for european games.
The girls receive a lot more booking than in the league.

Some of the girls said this last year. Now they have a mountain to climb. Oh well, we can only wish them luck.

By the way, it looks as if the ladies' season will run from March to October. I'll welcome that as it will give us something to do in the summer and not clash with the men.
