Only thing is, Its different Italian food you get in Rome than you do over here. Honestly itmight sound silly but you may be dissappointed. Because they use different ingredients etc.....exactly like chinese food here and in china, totally different; nowhere as rich as we getit.

All the food here is altered for over Western pallette

Cook it yourself. I would never go out to an Italian restaurant but you can cook up some wicked pasta and pizza if you know how to cook pasta which alot of brits have no idea.
Hardest food to cook is Asian. Either Thai, Chinese, or Japanese all better at a restaurant.

All take-away/restaurant food is overpriced compared to cooking it yourself, not just Italian. Take a ham and mustard sandwich costing up to £3 but which would cost just pence if you made it yourself I always try to pick something I would never cook myself when I am eating out (which is actually quite a lot!)

Italian food always tastes much better in Italy.

Most of it is "peasant" food. Very little meat. A whole lot of cheap pasta. Overpriced.
